Who is Rebecca Voelpelย

Rebecca Voelpel is a vibrant multifaceted health and fitness enthusiast. Formerly a professional ballerina, she now works full-time for Total Gym acting as their Regional Sales Rep for the Northwast as well as their Director of Group Exercise.ย  As if that wasnโ€™t enough, sheโ€™s also the Program Director, Master Trainer, and Assessor at SoulBody Fitness, a woman-owned group fitness business offering classes globally.ย

Although Rebecca has a stacked list of credentials, itโ€™s her passion for helping others that stands out. During Coach360โ€™s IGNITE series, Rebecca shared her meaningful and well-positioned insight on the Education Evolved panel, where her thoughts expanded beyond the topic at hand and evolved into more expert advice on utilizing social media platforms for major success.ย

Leveraging Social Media for Success

Running a health and wellness business is notoriously demanding. Without deliberate efforts to recharge, entrepreneurs in this field often face burnout. As highlighted by Becca during the IGNITE panel, this contributes to high turnover rates in the fitness industry. Social media tends to portray an idealized version of working in health and wellness, but industry professionalsโ€”coaches, owners, and trainersโ€”understand the true effort required for success.

Becca emphasized that coaches who authentically share their journey and stay true to their brand typically achieve the greatest success. It’s crucial to recognize that regardless of your affiliation with a gym, studio, or multiple brands, you maintain your distinct personal brand within that ecosystem. Differentiating yourself from others involves sharing your unique perspective, ideas, and insights. Even when leading group classes at a studio, it’s your appeal that draws people to sign up, return, and remain loyal to your sessions.

Social media can be an extremely powerful tool for building your brand awareness and business when it is leveraged correctly. Know who you are targeting, and what your message and brand are, and remain consistent. That doesnโ€™t mean you have to post every single thing that happens in your day, but especially as youโ€™re building a platform, you want to showcase your brand. Having consistency in font, color scheme, and aesthetics is especially important for cohesion and brand awareness.ย

Expert Tips for Trainers and Coaches

Rebecca laid out some important tips that coaches and trainers can utilize to boost their business success.

  • Be Authentic- Donโ€™t be afraid to share your truths with your followers. It doesnโ€™t mean you have to bear every single truth, but sharing your real-life experiences can create an authentic experience that keeps your clients, both current and potential, engaged and connected to you. It also makes you more approachable.ย
  • Know Your Target Audience- You canโ€™t target everyone. Pick your niche group and make sure youโ€™re using language, visuals, and things that align with that demographic. For example, using โ€œgirliepopโ€ may speak to your millennials, but not your boomers.ย
  • Find Your Platform- Once you have locked in your target audience, decide which platform you will have the best success reaching them. Is it TikTok? LinkedIn? Instagram? Facebook? Do your market research and make sure to align your content on the platform(s) that your target audience is.ย
  • Remain Consistent- As mentioned above, staying true to your brand is imperative, especially while building your following. Showcase the same font, and color scheme, and target the same demographic for the most success. Once you have built your desired following, you have more freedom to switch it up and try something different.ย
  • Undergoing a Rebrand- Once you have built trust, awareness, and credibility, you can mix it up. Being very clear and explaining โ€œThis is what weโ€™re doing, this is how weโ€™re going to do it, and this is whyโ€ will be important for those already following along on the journey. Be upfront, clear, and transparent – the simpler the better when explaining your rebrand.ย

Donโ€™t be afraid to get specific about what you want to do with your business, and who you want to reach, and make a plan around how your social media accounts will tackle that. Consistency, authenticity, and remaining true to your messaging and branding are the major keys to successfully utilizing social media for major results.ย
